In September 2024, Biogarten Flechtdorf created a path with a water-bound surface in the Lustgarten Kunstpfad. The path is in the shape of a tree trunk that branches out at the Sternenzelt. Old cobblestones from Rhoden's old town centre were used for the path edging. This fits in wonderfully with the historic kitchen garden in front of the pleasure garden wall from 1650. The cats love to balance on the basalt pavement stones.
"At the inauguration of the low-barrier path, everyone involved was impressed by the upgrade, which was subsidised by the regional budget of the Diemelsee-Nordwaldeck Leader region." Heike Saure, Waldeckische Landeszeitung
Six speeches were given at the press event on 13 November. Volker Becker from the Diemelsee-Nordwaldeck LEADER region explained that the ‘Barrier-free art trail’ project received the most points from the commission. LEADER stands for Liaison Entre Actions de Développement de l'Économie Rurale", "Link between actions for the development of the rural economy". Now you can get to the centre of the garden to the star tent even with a walking frame. The application for funding for the construction of the path of the publicly accessible Lustgarten Kunstpfad was submitted by the Historische Ortsbild Diemelstadt e.V. (Diemelstadt Historical Site Association). According to Mayor Andreas Fritz, the garden has been further enhanced. Its appeal extends beyond the borders of Diemelstadt.
Rudolf talked about the history of the Lower Manorial Garden and I talked about art and nature, about walking and transforming, about strong and weak growth, growing and cultivating. You can now enjoy the herbaceous meadows and wild herbs from the level path without stumbling.
The Lustgarten Kunstpfad is a species-rich, near-natural garden on historical grounds. It has developed into a small park that strengthens the centre of the historic townscape as a counterbalance to the growing commercial areas in the north-west and south-west of Rhoden.
The path leads along sculptures. Some of the words chiselled into the ground are not so easy to find; this is part of the garden's philosophy: VITA - scatter flowers as you go - hide and seek - WEILE LANGE WEILE

We are looking for small and large spirited helpers.
We are hoping for feedback and support for our art and garden project. We look forward to any kind of help. From now on, we would like to join forces to preserve the cultural garden heritage from 1650, in which Rudolf's Görg ancestors worked for 70 years and we have worked for 13 years so far. Think of this garden letter as a wish list in the Advent calendar.
If donations are received by the Historisches Ortsbild Diemelstadt e.V. association (donation receipt), these can be used for the future maintenance of the garden, so that the care of the plant communities on the beds, on the hills, around the fountain and around the paths can gradually be taken over by helpers.

I have looked after the garden since 2011. My thanks go to Susanne Engelns for her advice on garden planning, and secondly to the founder and developer of the ‘New German Style’ in garden architecture, Cassian Schmidt, who introduced me to his student Felix Rudorf in 2012, who wrote his bachelor's thesis on the use of perennials in the Lustgarten Kunstpfad. This thesis can be found on the website of the Eder Lahn Diemel Garden Route.
